About this trip
I am studying for an EngD which is like a PhD but based in industry and you become Doctor of Engineering rather than Doctor of Philosophy at the end of it.
I am doing this at Bath university and they are a partner in a collaboration agreement with other universities, one of which is the NII (National Institute of Informatics) in Tokyo. The NII issue each year a call for international internships to partner institutions and hence I became aware of the program.
I applied and was accepted.
My EngD is based at Vodafone in Newbury and I work on optimization of resources in next generation cellular technologies. I shall be doing something similar at The NII.
